What are the threats facing this region?

We are seeing compounding challenges towards the most productive ecosystems on earth, threatening our food systems, polluting our waters, reducing protection for coastal communities, eliminating livelihoods, and destroying cultural identity, beauty and wild spaces. This is a time for generative, collaborative and creative solutions.

  • Increasing Ocean Temperatures

  • Ocean Acidification

  • Overfishing and Gear Entanglements

  • Pollution and Nitrification

  • Increasing Storm Intensity and Frequency

  • Disease Prevalence

With an ecosystem based approach we are confronting these challenges with all community led by projects, coming up with innovative solutions tailored to local conditions like coral larval propagation and assisted migration, plastic reuse practices to build circular economies, seaweed bloom mitigation aiding in local farming practices, and training of future practitioners in restoration and mitigation efforts.
